Spring Semester 2025 Flight Competition

Welcome back to campus, I hope you’ve all had a great start to the spring semester! Below are the Flight Competition rules, deadlines, and procedures. Feel free to contact C/Wickert at colewick@mit.edu with any questions you may have!

Ground Rules

• Can submit any time/day  
• Late submissions permitted (up to 1 week)
• Can double count flight bonding with RR, EPT, Wellness
• Can’t double count flight and squadron events
• No virtual events & facetimes/zoom don’t count as attendance
• FTP sessions do not earn points.

Streak Bonus

To incentivize consistent flight events, flights will earn a stacking multiplier for holding at least one flight event per week. The longer the streak, the higher the multiplier!

• Streak of 1 week: 1.33x multiplier
• Streak of 2 weeks: 1.67x multiplier
• Streak of 3 weeks: 2x multiplier
• Streak of 4 weeks: 2.33x multiplier
• Streak of 5 weeks: 2.67x multiplier
• Streak of 6+ weeks: 3x multiplier (MAX)​​

How It Works

• A flight earns a streak by hosting at least one flight event per week
• A “week” is defined as Tuesday at 1700 to the following Tuesday at 1700
• Missing a week resets the streak
• The streak multiplier applies only to flight events (not squadron or wing events)
• Spring Break Exception: The two weeks of Spring Break will count as one cumulative week

Ways to Earn Points 

1. Flight Events
   • Any flight bonding event at least 30 minutes
   • WSO submits for entire flight; 1 submission per day limit
   • 3 cadets required; 3 pts per cadet
   • +30 points for all cadets present (including Flt CC)

2. Squadron Events
   • Anyone from the squadron can submit
   • 4 cadets per flight required (Flt CC counts); 9 pts per cadet
   • +100 points for all cadets present (from both flights, + Sq CC and Dep CC)

3. Wing Events – RR/EPT/DEI/ Wellness
   • Can submit individually
   • This can be any event planned by the det for cadets – GMC nights, wellness events, holiday parties, DEI, EPT, RR, anything that is not designated PMT time counts!
   • EPT = Extended PT: this includes any extra PT hosted by APFOs or PT-related activities such as run club and intramural sports!
   • 3 pts per cadet
   • Bonus +3 points per cadet who volunteered at event

4. Morale!!!
   • +5 pts per unique flight chant
   • +10 pts per unique squadron chant
   • To get credit, you must perform the chant at a PMT event
   • You can earn points for chants you have created until now, as long as they are performed within a week of submission
