Info for Contracted Cadets

How to Acquire a CAC:

  1. Ensure your contract paperwork has already been processed through the Air Force.
  2. Have you have both a primary and secondary form of identification readily accessible. It is needed for acquiring a CAC. The classifications of documents can be found here.
  3. Call the desired location to schedule an appointment to acquire the CAC. Note: if you are going to Hanscomb AFB, you will need a sponsor to get onto the base. At Hanscomb AFB, the ID card room is on the first floor and an immediate right after walking in the front entrance of the General George S Brown Building.
  4. On the day of the appointment, ensure you have your documentation and that your appearance is in regulations. Arriving early is a good idea since it may take time to get through security at the location.
  5. Congratulations! Your CAC can now be used for a variety of things: you can ride the T system for free (just find an employee and show them the CAC), you can get free bags with some domestic airlines, and you can enjoy discounts at places like the Museum of Fine Arts, the New England Aquarium, and ski resorts.
